Position Summary

The Head of Insurance Operations will be working with the leadership team to oversee the entire insurance operations services, and implement business strategies alongside world class delivery of Allianz Services Malaysia. This role involves leading initiatives to ensure efficient, effective and customer oriented delivery across all services from Allianz Services Malaysia. Key responsibilities include overseeing the company’s insurance operations and productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and organizational goals are met, maintaining strong customer and stakeholder relationships as well as driving innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery:

  • Achieve operational excellence by overseeing the execution of our service lines, functions systems, processes and procedures and leading corrective measures as necessary
  • Manage and oversee office facilities, logistics, IT, supplier management and project management functions, including Information Security Management System, Protection and Resilience framework, Data Privacy & regulatory aspects, ESG strategy and onsite support.
  • Collaborate with Heads of Global Service Lines and local/ regional management to ensure delivery standards are achieved.

Financial:

  • Accountable for the revenue, cost and overall P&L of Operations services delivered
  • Manage operational budget to ensure prudent spending and cost-effective management of resources
  • Ensure all contractual agreements are in place and timely performed

Customer:

  • To be the preferred strategic partner for all customer OEs by driving efficiencies and value through innovations and cost savings through futuristic technologies like RPA or (Gen)AI.
  • Drive sustainable and profitable growth through effective management of relationships with existing and potential clients, and actively pursuing new opportunities for continued expansion
  • Ensure the services provided are value-adding and generating benefits for the OEs and their end customers.

People:

  • Establish, implement and communicate strategic direction of the organization’s operational goals while collaborating with other divisions and departments.
  • Lead a diverse local team, manage the global matrix organization and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Manage the OSHA - Occupational Safety Health Administration – for Allianz Services staff.

Growth/Value/Improvements:

  • Manage growth for AZS Malaysia while driving productivity gains to the Customer OEs
  • Integration of productivity, automation and future technology, such as (Gen-) AI, Analytics initiatives, as the company scales up.
  • Continuously improve delivered services to achieve sustainable productivity gains

Risk/Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance across span of control in line with OE requirements and Allianz Group standards.
  • Ensure business continuity in the event of global catastrophe/epidemics.
  • Measure and track operational metrics for organizational performance review and reporting

Qualifications and skills

  • Minimum 8-10 years of working experience in insurance and operations, organizational management and/or other related fields.
  • At least one in-depth area of insurance expertise such as Claims Operations, policy management, underwriting, etc.
  • Proven people leader with experience of building, evolving and motivating a high performing and diverse team in a global and matrix set-up.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field is typically required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and experienced in AI tools such as ChatGPT and Co-Pilot.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate competency in operations management, cost control, strategic planning and change management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into strategic decisions.
