DB2 Database Administrator

You will

  • DB2 Database administration responsibilities (in Linux Environments ) starting from set up of databases towards maintaining the health, performance of databases and end-end responsible for driving all project related implementations (DB2 Upgrades, Support for RHEL & Application Upgrades)
  • Opportunities for automations - Willingness to take ownerships in automations, process improvements with respect to Database Management is really needed, especially in Ansible + Shell scripting
  • L3-L4 level troubleshooting of Database related incidents is essential
  • Manage backups, security, and controls of databases.
  • Control and monitor user access to the database.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance.
  • Provide support for DB2 databases as per company procedures and policies.
  • Engage with application vendor support until problem resolution.
  • Restore databases and application servers when required.
  • Manage storage and I/O performance issues related to databases.
  • Design logical and physical structures of the database, including storage parameters.
  • Perform database tuning and manage both production and development environments.
  • Plan, document, and implement new database management system software and release upgrades upon company approval.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of database system operations and recommend and implement performance improvements for databases and user applications.
  • Utilize table partitioning and table compression techniques.
  • Use event monitors and snapshot monitors to regularly check database health.
  • Write and maintain – Ansible Roles , shell scripts for automation and maintenance.
  • Implement and maintain all procedures for backup and recovery of database management systems, including audit logs of all database activities.

Your skills

  • University graduate degree (mandatory).
  • 7+ years of relevant experience as a DB2 UDB DBA.
  • Experience with relational database management systems, specifically DB2 Database Adminstration Linux
  • Know-how in Ansible is essential inorder to write/customize existing playbooks (Intermediate-Advanced level preferable)
  • Shell scripting know-how – added advantage
  • Expertise in running DB2 utilities such as Reorg, Runstats, Rebind, Export, Import, Load, Backup, Restore, and Recovery.
  • Proficiency in database backup and recovery.
  • Hands-on experience in database and SQL statement access plan optimization using DB2 Explain
  • Strong skills in DB2 performance tuning and database monitoring using Dynatrace
