IT Application Support Lead

For our Application Support squad, we are in search of an IT Chapter Lead with a solid IT background and hands‑on experience to help us develop, maintain, and improve our IT application landscape.

In your role as a Chapter Lead, you will guide your chapter according to the common purpose you define. You will coach and develop your engineers to help them grow, build excellence within the chapter, and raise the overall delivery quality every single day.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys leading experts, shaping delivery environments, and building a strong, future‑ready engineering chapter.

Roles and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the maintenance, development, and continuous improvement of the team’s delivery. In addition, you will play a crucial role in the professional growth of the chapter members. You will be part of the Management Team of the IT Services SuperCircle.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the IT operations team, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation and career development.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage and enterprise applications.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of IT systems through effective monitoring, maintenance and support strategies.
  • Develop and implement IT operational policies, procedures and best practices to optimize efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate with other IT and business teams to ensure seamless integration and support for IT initiatives and projects.
  • Manage IT incident and problem management processes, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of IT security measures and ensure compliance with standards and requirements.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of IT operations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts to ensure delivery of high‑quality services.
  • Lead IT operations projects, including system upgrades, migrations and new technology implementations.
  • Prepare and manage the IT operations budget, ensuring cost‑effective use of resources.
  • Take responsibility for the local infrastructure.

Beyond the core responsibilities, we expect the Chapter Lead to combine technical insight, structured leadership, and a strong people‑focused mindset. You will lead a team of experienced engineers and ensure clarity, direction and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.

To succeed, you should be ready to:

  • Lead a strong technical team by providing structure, clarity and alignment.
  • Run regular leadership routines such as technical syncs, 1:1s, coaching conversations and development discussions.
  • Drive motivation, engagement, and growth, helping engineers navigate their development paths.
  • Maintain an overview of responsibilities, workloads, and priorities, ensuring stable and predictable delivery.
  • Work with demanding stakeholders, balancing expectations, and maintaining effective communication.
  • Introduce and maintain order and consistency across processes, reporting and ways of working.
  • Stay close to the technical landscape, understanding risks, challenges, and dependencies to support decision‑making.

The Team

The squad consists of highly skilled engineers with in‑depth expertise across various technologies. We are looking for someone who can support the team supporting local and regional applications in increasing quality, resilience, reliability and automation, advise on technological advances, challenge the status quo, and build strong relationships with key business stakeholders.

Leadership & Team Expectations

You will be joining a team of 14 engineers self-sufficiency and autonomously performing their daily operations. The team is composed by various skills and maturity levels. Your responsibility will be to motivate and lead the engineering team, upskill individuals to be applicable for their next career move within the team or outside of the current team.

The local environment is composed by one engineering team and is limited on Tech opportunities for the team which requires more visibility and focus on global initiatives across other Hubs locations, entities across EMEA and headquarter in Netherlands enabling the team to grow into global Tech opportunities across the whole ING.

Your Education and Background

  • Fluent in English
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in the IT support field and at least 5+ years of people leadership experience
  • Service‑oriented mindset and passion for working in an innovative environment
  • Fast learner who follows trends and is open to applying new technologies
  • Passionate about your field and ambitious to grow personally and professionally
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to go beyond the boundaries of your role to drive innovation

Core Technical Skills

You are not expected to be a deep expert in everything, but you should be comfortable navigating and discussing technologies such as:

  • Windows environments
  • Containerization & Orchestration (Docker)
  • Scripting & Automation (PowerShell)
  • SQL / MSSQL
  • Programming fundamentals (Java, Python - ability to understand and discuss solutions)
  • Azure and private cloud concepts
  • Technical documentation & analytical thinking
  • End‑to‑end design understanding

These skills will enable you to support your engineers, challenge solutions constructively and make informed decisions.

Wage (gross)

3.536 EUR/month

*By legal requirement we are providing the information about the basic wage component (minimum salary) for the advertised position. Based on your experience/profile, the final financial conditions will be the subject to discuss and negotiate at the personal interview, however, not less than above mentioned minimum salary component.
