GENERAL DESCRIPTION
At Julius Baer, we uphold the highest standards in compliance and client service. We are seeking a KYC Uplift/Advisory Specialist to support our Private Banking International RMs with their Periodic Reviews. The role involves conducting thorough reviews and enhancements of KYC documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Working directly with RMs, the specialist will collect and verify client information, perform due diligence checks, and support to prepare clear KYC narratives—including Source of Wealth (SOW) and risk assessments for existing clients.
YOUR CHALLENGE
KEY FEATURES OF THE POSITION
KYC Uplift & Advice
- Perform review and uplift of existing KYC profiles to meet enhanced regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the RM in the preparation of comprehensive KYC files and narratives for Periodic Reviews.
- Review the updated SOW documentation and KYC corroboration provided by the Front Office.
- Articulate SOW and Source of Funds (SOF) summaries ensuring clear justifications, plausibility assessments and traceability.
- Conduct a comprehensive SOW plausibility assessment, support on benchmarking, including review of the client’s transactional behaviour, review and validate name screening results
- Provide feedback to Relationship Managers (RMs) via email and/or in person and collaborate with them on drafting the client’s SOW narrative
- Review client structures (individuals, companies, trusts, foundations) and ensure documentation completeness in line with local regulations.
- Identify and escalate newly identified risk indicators or unusual transaction patterns during course of reviews.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of review rationale and decisions.
- Ensure timely and quality completion of assigned cases in line with defined timeline.
- Support periodic reporting and status updates for internal governance.
- Provide advice to Front employees on KYC/CDD- related matters.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring gaps and suggesting enhancements to procedures.
- Ensure that KYC/CDD issues are properly identified, assessed and documented.
- Ensure that where KYC/CDD measures cannot be completed, mitigating measures are in place for and timely escalation to Compliance where suspicious activities /conduct is also noted.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Personal and Social
- A strong sense of responsibility and impeccable integrity
- Strong personality with good organisational skills
- Excellent communication skill
- Ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders
- Setting the right priorities and ability to work on multiple assignments at the same time
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent command of spoken and written English, other languages are an advantage
Professional and Technical
- Prior experience in conducting KYC uplifts or Front KYC advisory specialist roles within private bank is preferred
- Strong technical knowledge in KYC risk assessment, SOW/SOF corroboration and financial crime compliance standards
- Experience interpreting financial documents (e.g. financial statements, property deed).
- A good degree and understanding of the private banking industry and or trust company.
