Finance Data Engineer (f/m/d)

Allianz Insurance • Frankfurt, DE

The Finance Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, interfaces, and technical integration components required to support finance reporting and data products. The role is focused on reliable and efficient movement, transformation, and provisioning of data across source systems, staging layers, and target reporting environments.

Within the future Finance Data Platform team, this role will help translate business and technical design requirements into robust solutions.

The Data Engineer should be comfortable working with structured data pipelines, interfaces, source-to-target mappings, deployment cycles, and technical troubleshooting.

This is a delivery-oriented role with strong impact on execution speed, processing stability, and the scalability of the future setup. The ideal candidate combines solid engineering discipline with enough business awareness to understand why certain data sets, controls, and timelines matter in a finance context.

What you will do

  • Design, build, test, and maintain data pipelines and interfaces supporting finance reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Implement extraction, transformation, and loading logic to agreed specifications, with clear source-to-target mappings.
  • Support SAP and non-SAP integration within scope and keep processing jobs stable and performant.
  • Embed data quality checks and control points into the processing flow.
  • Investigate and resolve data processing errors, technical failures, and interface issues.
  • Support deployment, testing, defect fixing, and post-go-live stabilisation.
  • Document implementations and mappings; contribute to engineering standards and automation opportunities.
  • Actively apply AI and automation to improve the platform — accelerating pipeline development, simplifying data flows, and raising code quality and maintainability.

What you bring

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Informatics, or a related discipline.
  • Solid professional experience in data engineering, ETL development, data integration, or related technical implementation roles.

  • Systematic problem-solving and clear technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Experience with Data Modelling, Data Integration, Data Management, Data Governance and Data Reporting.
