It’s what our 33,000 colleagues do every day for people around the world who are facing the unexpected. We invite you to grow your career with us, experience our caring culture, and enjoy work-life balance. Here, there’s no limit to what you can achieve. Newsweek Recognizes Sedgwick as America’s Greatest Workplaces National Top Companies Certified as a Great Place to Work® Fortune Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance Senior Forward Deployed Engineer Remote role, open to U.S. based candidates. PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (Foundry & AIP) within the Transformation Office is responsible for co-developing, operating, and hardening production claims capabilities on Palantir Foundry and AIP alongside Palantir’s own forward-deployed engineers. This role embeds with Casualty operations and Palantir delivery teams to build ontology, data pipelines, Workshop applications, and AIP logic that power the claims control tower and related transformation initiatives. Operating at the intersection of backend engineering, applied AI, and operational delivery, the Senior Forward Deployed Engineer translates shaped examiner problems into working Foundry and AIP software. The role is a senior technical contributor who sits in the same room as Palantir FDEs, writes production code in Sedgwick-owned repositories, and ensures that what ships is observable, secure, evaluable, and operable by Sedgwick — not a vendor demonstration accepted after the fact. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Designs, builds, and operates Foundry pipelines and Code Repository transforms that ingest, join, and operationalize claims data from enterprise platforms — including Snowflake, governed APIs, and approved event topics — into ontology-backed datasets. · Implements ontology objects, link types, properties, actions, and restricted views in accordance with the canonical claim model, rather than mirroring source-system tables into Foundry. · Builds examiner-facing Workshop applications and Functions that present work, context, and recommended actions in the claims workflow, including write-back through governed actions rather than uncontrolled mutation of systems of record. · Develops AIP Logic and AIP agent workflows that draft, extract, route, and recommend — with source provenance on every material output and human confirmation on consequential claims actions (reserves, payments, compensability, denial, litigation posture). · Co-develops daily with Palantir forward-deployed engineers: shared code, shared design sessions, shared debugging. Does not wait for a demo cycle to review completed work. · Implements authentication, markings, restricted views, logging, monitoring, and error handling so Foundry and AIP applications meet enterprise security, auditability, PHI, and reliability requirements. · Integrates Foundry and AIP with enterprise and legacy systems — including Juris-adjacent services, SQL-based platforms, and event streams — using approved, non-invasive integration patterns. · Instruments AIP and Workshop applications for evaluation and operations: latency, failure modes, examiner override and dismissal, and evidence that a workflow is ready to move up the human-confirmation ladder. · Collaborates closely with the Principal Forward Deployed Engineer, Casualty business partners, data engineering, security, and AI platform teams to keep Foundry delivery aligned with architectural standards and the shared substrate. · Troubleshoots and resolves pipeline, ontology, Workshop, and AIP performance issues related to freshness, latency, cost, correctness, and reliability. · Contributes portable artifacts — versioned ontology definitions, pipeline code, action contracts, evaluation sets — so that business logic does not exist only inside a Foundry project. · Provides technical guidance to Palantir FDE teammates on Sedgwick data, examiner workflow, and engineering standards, and mentors other Transformation engineers engaging Foundry and AIP. · Leads complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and hardening of business-critical Foundry and AIP applications as they move from prototype to production use. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Performs other duties as assigned. · Travel as required, including regular on-site work with claims operations and with Palantir delivery teams. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline from an accredited college or university required. Master’s degree preferred. Experience Six (6) to eight (8) years of experience in software engineering, with at least three (3) years building production data applications, operational UIs, or AI-assisted workflows in an enterprise environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hands-on experience developing on Palantir Foundry (pipelines, ontology, Workshop, and\u002For Code Repositories) strongly preferred. Equivalent experience building production applications on a comparable ontology, data-app, or operational-AI platform will be considered. Practical experience with LLM-powered or agent-based features in production — including evaluation, failure handling, and a human review loop — preferred. Experience embedding with business users or a vendor delivery team to co-develop, rather than receiving a completed specification, preferred. Experience in insurance, claims, healthcare, or another heavily regulated operational domain preferred. Skills & Knowledge Strong software engineering skills in Python, with solid working knowledge of TypeScript or Java, SQL, Spark \u002F PySpark, and REST APIs Hands-on Foundry skills: pipelines and transforms, ontology objects and actions, Workshop applications, Functions, and Foundry security (markings, restricted views) Working understanding of Palantir AIP — AIP Logic, agents, tool invocation, and prompt \u002F workflow evaluation — sufficient to build and operate examiner-facing features, not only configure them Experience with data pipelines, incremental transforms, and integration with enterprise data platforms (Snowflake or equivalent, event streams, APIs) Knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts, identity (Entra \u002F OIDC), security patterns, and operational best practices sufficient to ship into a regulated environment Ability to implement Foundry and AIP solutions in alignment with enterprise architecture, governance, PHI handling, and compliance requirements Ability to sit with examiners or operations staff, watch the work, and turn that into a scoped pipeline, action, or Workshop change Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced Transformation Office, including pairing daily with vendor forward-deployed engineers Strong mentoring, collaboration, and technical communication skills Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies WORK ENVIRONMENT When applicable and appropriate, consideration will be given to reasonable accommodation. Mental: Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines Physical: Computer keyboarding, travel as required Auditory\u002FVisual: Hearing, vision and talking The statements contained in this document are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a colleague assigned to this description.
