Head of Risk Management - ART AG

Allianz Insurance • Wallisellen, CH

We are looking for a Head of Risk Management – ART AG to join our team in Wallisellen, Switzerland.

Your Team

You will be part of the Finance function within Allianz Commercial, reporting directly to the Regional CFO and with a matrix line to the Chief Risk Officer. The team sits at the heart of risk oversight, regulatory compliance, and strategic business partnership — operating across ART AG, ART Bermuda Ltd, and the ART Line of Business globally. It is a high-impact environment where your expertise will shape how risk is identified, managed, and reported across a complex, multi-entity structure.

This is a regional leadership role with genuine global exposure. You will work closely with senior leaders, local management teams, and global risk functions to maintain a clear and effective risk and control environment. Managing a skilled team, you will oversee capital and solvency matters while helping the organisation understand and respond to new and evolving risks — today and into the future.

The Impact You Will Have

As Head of Risk Management for ART AG, you will lead the cornerstone of risk management framework across a diverse and multi-entity structure. You will shape the risk culture, drive regulatory compliance — including under the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) framework and act as the link between local management and global risk functions, ensuring that risk-related matters are communicated and addressed effectively across the organisation. You will oversee capital and solvency management across SST and other regulatory frameworks and ensure that emerging and non-traditional risks are appropriately identified, assessed and managed.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead and manage the risk management team, providing strategic direction, setting clear and challenging targets, monitoring performance, and empowering team members to operate independently within Allianz Commercial standards.
  • You will develop and implement the risk management strategy for ART AG, ART Bermuda Ltd, and the ART LoB globally, aligning it with regional and functional goals.
  • oversee solvency-related risk reporting requirements under the Swiss Solvency Test (SST), Solvency II (SII) and Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement (BSCR) frameworks, ensuring robust risk assessments, capital analyses and regulatory submissions.
  • lead the risk management team, setting priorities, overseeing performance, and supporting team members in their development while encouraging a high degree of ownership and accountability.
  • oversee quarterly risk reporting to relevant Risk Committees and coordinate the annual identification, assessment and review of key risks through the Top Risk Assessment process.
  • provide independent regional risk oversight, ensuring transparency of the risk and control environment to local management and global risk management, with a focus on underwriting practices, new product development, reputation risk, and risk accumulation.
  • You will lead the quarterly reporting of regional and local risk reports and coordinate the annual identification of regional and local top risks.
  • You will act as the primary conduit of transparency on risk-related topics between local management teams and global Allianz Commercial functions.
  • You will ensure compliance with external risk management requirements, interpreting and implementing local regulatory obligations in an efficient and effective manner.
  • You will maintain relationships with local regulators and external parties in the context of risk management, representing Allianz Commercial with authority and credibility.
  • You will oversee solvency-related risk reporting requirements, particularly under the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) framework, ensuring the adequacy of risk assessments, capital analyses, and regulatory submissions.
  • You will identify, assess, and prioritise risk mitigation actions in close collaboration with the business, supporting teams in managing their risks proactively.
  • You will support the Global Risk Management team with global responsibilities as needed, contributing to the broader Allianz Commercial risk agenda.

What You’ll Bring

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or another strong quantitative or analytical field; completion of an Actuarial or CFA designation is considered an advantage.
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of experience leading and developing international and/or virtual teams within a complex global matrix environment.
  • A deep understanding of insurance and state-of-the-art risk management techniques, including a robust knowledge of corporate insurance product portfolios.
  • Proven experience in leading change and delivering large-scale international projects across various business scenarios, including restructuring and integration.
  • Industry-recognised and up-to-date Risk Management expertise, backed by hands-on experience in risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting.
  • A robust understanding of regulatory risk frameworks and requirements, in particular the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) and other relevant regulatory environments across Allianz Commercial’s locations.
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices across relevant functional areas, including Actuarial, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and COO functions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex risk topics clearly and effectively to senior management and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, effectively evaluating information from multiple sources and committing to action in complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Expertise in integrating AI into various business functions, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of data-driven innovation is crucial.
  • Nice to have: Proficiency in a local Swiss language (German, French, or Italian) in addition to fluent English.
